Sometimes it’s necessary to write in order to process a strange reality, when immediacy pushes into the text. Hence– “contagion : quartet,” which now has a home inside Likhaan: The Journal of Contemporary Philippine Literature. And for that I’m deeply grateful. She is in good company and needn’t exist in lockdown like the rest of us out here.
The launch took place online, alongside two other journals published by the UP Institute of Creative Writing: Dx Machina 1 & 2: Philippine Literature in the Time of COVID-19.
From the editors: “we believe there is a reason to celebrate literature, and the obstinacy of those who produce it, in whatever language. No calamity, natural or manmade, has succeeded in silencing them. Long may the tribe prosper! Mabuhay tayong lahat!”
